“I love being a foreigner in any situation, love being a little out of my comfort zone. I feel alive when I have to jump in, think on my feet, and improvise to make something work for our clients.”
Antonia Hays
Antonia Hays viewed the prospect of a career in law as satisfying in a number of ways. As a first generation American-born daughter, her Croatian parents’ preference for her was either medicine or law. Litigation was attractive because it was To Kill A Mockingbird – powerful, life-changing theater. But it was a moment in a law firm suite that was ultimately decisive. She had an appointment with a partner and as she entered his office – the aged leather chair, the massive mahogany bookcase stocked with leather bound volumes, the cigarette in his hand as he listened – it triggered the competitor in her: in a flash, she knew she wanted to be a woman in that male-centric space. And she wanted to kill it.
So she did. Ms. Hays graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University, got her law degree there as well, and became a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic honor. Her practice includes the handling of complex and multiparty litigation involving estates, trusts, and guardianship matters.
Ms. Hays approaches day to day life as a grand adventure both at work and at home. And she’s motivated by a deep appreciation of how little time we all have together. It brings her great happiness and satisfaction helping clients get somewhere better faster.
