Our BACKSTORY

At Staza Law, we are dedicated to guiding clients on their best path forward — with transparency, unconventional accessibility, expertise, honesty and empathy.

Staza is Croatian for ‘path’ – the direction in which a person chooses to move. Staza Law is the creation of two fellow adventurers who discovered they share a common mission and passion for law, and a common impulse to take the path less traveled.

Antonia Hays is a first generation Croatian American who graduated high school and college early, then traveled through Europe on her own before law school and her first job in a firm.

Andy Hays studied history and became a brewmaster while migrating from Kansas to Rome to Oregon to Arizona to Colorado to Illinois where he found his way to law school and got a job with a small law firm. It was the last time he worked for anyone else.

Together, they embarked on two life-changing adventures – starting a family and launching a law firm. Twenty years later, they’ve added like-minded lawyers and legal professionals and built a thriving practice located in the storefront of their building in Chicago’s Ukranian Village neighborhood.

Our MISSION

Our mission is simply to work closely with individuals and families, and treat them as we would hope to be treated if our roles were reversed. Specifically…
